For a long time, it was entirely unknown as to exactly why CKLB sponsored the Oshawa General Hockey Card sets in 1965-66, 1966-67, and 1967-68.  With the discovery of the very first Oshawa Green Gaels lacrosse card, it is now apparent.  In 1962, the legendary lacrosse coach Jim Bishop, moved to Oshawa and founded the Whitby-Oshawa Green Gaels juvenile lacrosse team.  In 1963, in part, the team became the Oshawa Green Gaels club and were an immediate success as the only Junior A lacrosse team to win the Minto Cup in their first season in the league. They would go onto win seven in a row—an accomplishment never neared as the next best franchise could only win four in a row (Peterborough 1972-75).  Additionally, no other Junior A franchise has won more than 3 Minto Cups in a row.
Coach Jim Bishop was the sports director for Oshawa’s CKLB radio station, and on the heels of a successful trading card co-promotion of the 1965-66 Oshawa Generals featuring Bobby Orr, Jim Bishop decided to have CKLB and Crown Life Insurance sponsor his Oshawa Green Gaels lacrosse card set for the 1966 season.
This card, of Neil Armstrong can definitively be dated to 1966 based upon his photograph in the 1966 Oshawa Green Gales lacrosse program.  To date, this is the only example of a period lacrosse card which has surfaced from the post WWI era through the 1960s and it is highly unlikely that another issue exists, except for perhaps another Oshawa Green Gaels lacrosse card from 1966, which might feature one or more of the following players: Merv Marshall, Brian Thompson, Jim Higgs, Tom Vann, Ross Jones, Fred Greenwood, Charlie Marlowe, Dwight Davies, Bill Hastie, Don Stinson, Jim Hinkson, Dave Keenan, Doug Sutton, Phil Clayton, Mike Lewis, Larry Lloyd, Danny Dan Sandford, John Clayton, Gaylord Powless, Gary Lopak, Peter Vipon, Tom Vann or Jim Higgs.
Card is in Very Good (VG 3) condition with minor wrinkles and measures 4.25 inches by 6 inches in size.  It is also a little known fact that Bobby Orr played in 4 games for the 1964 Oshawa Green Gaels and if CKLB and Crown Life Insurance had sponsored that set, it would possibly have included the very first card of any kind featuring Bobby Or—as a 16-year-old.
