The "Luigino328" is an Arduino-compatible board. It runs all Arduino applications, has the same form factor, and is compatible with Arduino shields (with one issue; see below). It is recognized by the Arudino IDE as an Arduino Duemilanove.
However, this board has some features that the Duemilanove does not. A Microchip PIC12F microcontroller has been added to perform the following functions:
Automatic Voltage Selector
— The PIC12F automatically switches from USB power to VIN power when an external power source is connected. No user intervention is required, and no current flows to the USB bus.
Automatic Serial Port Selector
— During programming, the TX and RX pins are connected directly to the FTDI chip, and the external socket is disconnected. Thus you can program the Luigino328 without removing any shield that uses the serial port.
Smart Reset
— The Luigino328 knows when you want to program it or when you just want to open the serial port from the PC. It resets only for programming. You can turn this feature on or off if needed.
