This is a very historical item. When Prince changed his name and became the "artist formerly known as", the symbol is what he was referred to and known as for several years. During that time I had not seen anything signed by him for fans or friends from what I have heard & seen. It was a strange time in his history and anything they corresponded to with him or to others was done with the symbol and not his previous name. Many years ago I acquired an item in the "artist formerly known as" period and on that piece of paper was the same exact symbol ink stamp.
This ink stamp ='s his signature or "being" from a certain period of time when this was used as his name. There is only 1 instance I know of that he hand drew the symbol on paper. After the WB thing ended he changed his name back to "Prince" ending the symbol era. This was used by his people for documents/letters etc in that period.
Right now since it has been sitting for a long time the ink is not 100% inside of it but still did a decent impression when I made one.
